Who We are
We are a not-for-profit advocacy organization in the South Okanagan, British Columbia. We embrace a widely shared vision of a walking and cycling pathway, connecting communities between Osoyoos and Sicamous. We believe Linking The Okanagan by Trail can have significant economic benefits through increased tourism, as well as health and environmental benefits through active transportation.
The Trail of the Okanagans was formed in 2013 by members of the Summerland Rotary Club. With the support of the local provincial MLA, and District of Summerland, we worked with the BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure to develop Phase 1 of the Summerland to Penticton lakeside paved pathway. Completed in 2015 the 1.3 km paved lakeshore pathway connects lower Summerland to Trout Creek.
Trail of the Okanagans Society is now focused on three significant trail sections that pose different challenges to linear hiking and biking through the South Okanagan. These challenges are:
upgrade the Fur Brigade Trail from Summerland to Peachland.
develop a lakeside trail from Penticton to Trout Creek
connect the rail trails south and north of Vaseux Lake
