Our Vision

Our dream is of a single 370 km long hiking and cycling trail from Sicamous B.C. in the north to Brewster WA in the south - spanning the length of the Okanagan Valley Lake and River System.  The route traces traditional trading routes of the Okanagan First Nations, skirts lake edges, wanders through forests and hillsides, borders vineyards, fruit orchards, witnesses unique landscapes and connects all our valley communities.

The Trail of the Okanagans Society, located in British Columbia, is an advocacy group focused on trail sections between the Bennett Bridge and the Canada / US Border.   We support and cheer the work of the Okanagan Rail Trail , and Shuswap North Okanagan Rail Trail.  We are also a coalition member of trail groups working in BC and Washington State to connect the Trail across the border.

As the map shows, although currently fragmented, a linear hiking and biking pathway in large part already exists from Osoyoos to Kelowna and beyond. Approximately 75% of the route is cyclable now and a third of that is suitable for all ages and all abilities!

Our Current Focus

The Trail of the Okanagans Society is focused on the completion of the trail by filling in these gaps.
